AA to fly BNE to DFW [confirmed]

American's new J product that'll be on this route looks streets ahead of the Qantas equivalent.
Hard product is quite common. Soft product is atrocious by some accounts?

I haven't been on their current 789 config, and obvs this is planned for the new fitout. But the J seats on their 77W are actually extremely comfortable; I think I've had my best-ever airplane sleep on them. And the food was fine if you preordered. They do lack espresso, though.

I flew AA LHR-SEA a few months ago in J; I would definitely agree with that statement. You have to get over your fear of using the call button flying AA unless you want to go thirsty. I can understand fewer FAs walking the cabin on overnight flights, but on a day flight like this I think it's pretty lousy.

Long haul international catering is OK but you could be on a domestic 7 hour widebody flight and not be served a meal in First if it's not during meal times.

The good: timing into DFW for onward East Coast connections (compared to QF's abysmally timed QF15; USCBP at DFW rather than LAX; AA hard product (compared to QF); return leg, DFW as an airport and AA FF lounge are excellent compared to LAX. Also a half-decent option to some European destinations with reward seats as opposed to lack of availability via SIN (I'm looking at you QF).

The mediocre: AA soft product

The (likely) bad: seasonal and propped up due to QLD Govt (possible it only lasts one season); expensive fares (similar to SYD/MEL-DFW); no F lounge at BNE or even anything remotely premium for what will likely be a premium route.

As someone who is about to do BNE-SYD-LAX-MIA, if a BNE-DFW on a OW carrier was available, even if a little extra cost, I probably would have jumped on it (it is a personal-paid holiday with family, so costs were a factor hence no SYD/MEL-MIA via DFW as it was insanely expensive). Current BNE-LAX timed flights ruled out those as options to connect.

Went through DFW on entry to US a few months ago (albeit, from Europe) and CBP was a breeze compared to LAX. Through in 10mins compared to the hour and bit last time through LAX.

Let's hope some more international love for BNE (ORD??) from QF/AA other OW airlines to warrent a decent QF/OW lounge. They did a great job in the domestic terminal, it is a shame Int hasn't kept up. Maybe they are waiting for the new airport terminal build before spending cash.

Got BNE-DFW-MCO for $1641 return for November. Not sure if there was a sale on (agent booked it) but thought that was excellent for this route.

Received the e-ticket okay?

That is a good deal. I've paid ~$1,700pp in Y QF/AA separate tickets BNE-SYD-LAX-MIA-LGAxJFK-LAX-BNE for travel in April (booked around Sep/Oct last year).

Booked on the inaugural flight into Brisbane due to being in Texas that week. Wonder if AA will do what Qantas does for inaugurals or if it will be a non-event.
