AA to fly BNE to DFW [confirmed]

AA8 is currently BWI-LAS?

That is not a route AA flies. Doesn't look like they are currently in use but have previously been used for DFW-Hawaii routes (DFW-OGG and HNL-DFW respectively).

I was referring to QF7 & 8 being the flight numbers for SYD-DFW.

Awards are up on AA but seem to be priced at full price (dynamic pricing) - 450K miles. Hopefully these become standard award pricing soon enough.
That's common for AA. They'll have sporadic pricing sales throughout the year and then more predictable drops in prices around 3-4 months out and 1-2 weeks out, but only where loads are light.

OMAAT published an article about this new route and claims that he can see up to 7 business awards (at regular award prices eligible for upgrades and SWU etc) on various dates. Admittedly I only searched a handful of dates and I can’t see the standard award pricing, but I’ll take his word for it.

Upgrade space on AA is not the same as award seat space.

Indeed, his article makes that clear:
Since this flight is now bookable, it’s worth noting that as of the time of this post, there are at least seven business class upgrade seats available on a vast majority of frequencies. So this is a great opportunity to redeem system upgrades or AAdvantage miles for an upgrade on a very long flight, and for American’s new product.

Unfortunately I don’t see much award space at a reasonable cost — instead, I’m seeing one-way prices of 450K AAdvantage miles, which is rough.

Cash fares on the route are around $1000 more than offerings via LAX or SYD. QF codeshares haven’t been loaded yet.

I expect cheaper fare classes and proper award seats will be added later.

Ah, without knowing the mechanics of AAdvantage well enough I’d assumed that the ability to apply SWU/upgrade entailed award space.

Keen to see their award pricing 3-4 months out as you stated earlier.

No award seats showing on QF or BA as yet

They haven’t even added the codeshares yet, and even the AA coded flights only have a small portion of inventory loaded (from what I can see it’s 7 per class but the cheapest classes have none).

QF flights via DFW are typically more than LAX or SFO and rarely go on sale so no surprise they'd be more on AA too.
In my experience, AA at DFW are painful to deal with so dunno what'll happen when they add several hundred additional International pax flying to Aus 🙄

But they were nearly 1K more expensive than via SYD-DFW

That's even more disappointing then. I flew QF DFW to BNE last year and it was on a daggy old plan that had been basically bumped up from domestic use to fill the void (duct tape was literally holding things together, carpet was frayed, numerous entertainment systems didn’t work... the list goes on... but the all Kiwi crew was friendly at least).
The bonus of QF outta DFW is that Texans evidently don't fly QF and there is rarely a queue at check-in and it's worth the extra money to me to not have to deal with LAX 🤣

QF doesn't fly DFW to BNE. Did you mean QF from DFW to SYD or MEL then connecting onto a domestic flight to BNE?
