In the past I've been able to do AA seat selection on a QF booking using the aa.com website and just looking up the booking using the 6 character reference number as the AA Confirmation Code. However, something has changed since November, and now its failing to find the bookings that I have made for 2026, even the one I was able to look up in November 2025.

Anyone know if there is a new means of seat selection for those legs on AA which QF just give an Aisle or Window option?

Download the AA app, input your Qantas 081 ticket number and you will be able to see the flights and manage the booking.

Cannot do this on the AA desktop site.

Found it on one of my bookings. When you click on seat selection on the QF website for the AA leg, it gives you the alternate AA 6 character code which then works on the AA website.
My other booking with 2 AA legs doesn't work though, so it seems more of a glitch than a feature.

As suggested the AA app with the 081 ticket number works for both though. Oddly, as does using BA.com to change the AA seats.
