Hi everyone!
I'm new here and not 100% sure if this belongs in AA or the QFF one but here's my situation.

I'm leaving for the US in 2 weeks and my travel agent booked my tickets (SYD-LAX-LAS-JFK-MIA-LAX-SYD) all on AA tickets.
She tried to allocate a few seats for me on her end but didn't have many options and left me to play with it.

I went onto AA.com and basically everything was blocked and also nothing would save when I submit my selection.
I called AA and explained how I couldn't save any seat selections
The lady on the phone was super helpful and said she would allocate all of the seats for me and my travel buddy (both of us are on the same booking).
Explained to her how I have another friend flying with us but was booked on separate booking as they will be from MEL and she said she would book aisle and window for my booking and my other friend would need to call up and request the middle seat.

So she booked us on exit row seats (Main Cabin Extra) and I asked her if there was anything to pay and she said no charge at all, which I found strange but I was like ok whatever.
When my friend went to call up and book the middle seat the lady said it would cost him to select the middle exit row seat so he left it.

I wasn't sure what happened but then when I was on the manage my booking on AA.com I noticed on my details that it didn't ask me to enter my FF number and when I went to edit, it seems that there was already a CX FF number entered and it wasn't mine as I'm only part of QFF.

So I was wondering if that might be the reason why I wasn't charged for the seat selection? And in regards to getting my points and status creditted what happens now since the FF number isn't even mine?

Anyone have any ideas what is going on??

Thanks :)

I assume you (or the other person on your booking) hold OneWorld FF status and your colleague on the separate booking does not. Your status allows exit row selection without charge. This does not apply to someone without the required FF status level.

actually we don't which is why im abit clueless...
so maybe there was a mixup? i mean im not complaining for getting to select my seats free of charge :)

but on the FF number its got someone else's CX FF number...

in this day and age, it's quite surprising that the booking accepted the FF number if the names dont match
