I've been trying to find out which routes have the new AA business class config.

I realise it's only on some 767s - but most international routes I have tried are all 777s.

Anyone able to shed some light?

Almost all of the 763s now have NGBC - so chances are pretty good.

Some (maybe 4 or 5) of the 777s have now been upgraded, but are not route specific - so you can never predict.

There is about 93% chance of having new business class on a 763

For 777s there is about a 22% chance of getting new business class

For the 777, check how many seats are in business class. The old business class has 35 seats and there are 37 in new business class. If the map shows an 8HJ then it is new business class.

There are a fair number of routes using 767s; where are tou planning to go

Very open. Looking at options for using systemwide upgrades, so even happy to try somewhere new.
I see most of the Asian legs are 777s.

HNL-ORD or DFW and ,iirc, some LAX flights have 763s

There are transatlantic flights such as MAD-MIA, MAN-ORD or FRA-ORD which are also 763s

I think most European routes out of JFK have 763s, other than LHR and DME. CDG, ZRH, FCO, MXP and BRU come to mind as having 763s out of JFK. And there's the new JFK-STN next year which is operated by 763.

I think I read on FT that they have started showing the NGBC 777 seat maps for all 777 flights and only switching to old J seat maps on day of flight where appropriate. Doesn't help other than to inflate expectations (if you're into the NGBC).

I heard someone whinging on my JFK-NRT flight today that the AA call centre had told them a couple of times that the plane was NBC, but that it was OBC.

I tried out the new J seats earlier this year while at JFK. AA had a demonstration set of seats there and were inviting pax to try them out.

I thought they were nice. Similar to the Skybed really, but can't recall how much they recline to. AA also gave me a notepad and pen for trying out the seats.

I have traveled in this seat. It's ok but tight, good for the 7 hour flight I was on. Seat is shorter and narrower than QF skybed and slightly more angled. Still comfy enough for a nap and better than their old seat. I was on a 763. The new UA product looks waaaay better though ;) When this comes in across the Pacific QF will finally have competition again.

Skybed is far superior to AA NBGC. NGBC is more cramped. does not rcline as far, and the design of the seat is such that the foot area/well is very tight, making it hard to move once reclined. I didn't find it very comfortable to sleep in.
