I'm looking at an AA KUPP fare in June that costs out at
US$1040 for 300 QF status credits. = A$1443

However the same fare at AA.com.au costs A$1725!

is there still any problem with payment when booking online with AA.com?

Does anyone know why there is such a discrepancy between the two fares? (They are both for the same flights)

Suggestions please.

I would suggest just putting the booking on hold and then can pay over the phone. UK office charges GBP15 ticketing fee

It is worth checking AA "Australian" site for comparative prices as sometimes you see a bargain but sometimes it appears more expensive. I imagine it has to do not only with exchange rates but also with a variation in timing of fare changes. I recently found a significant fare reduction on the aa.com site, of which I was able to take advantage, but that was never reflected on the Australian site.

In calculating the AUD price from the USD price on the aa.com site, you appear to be using around AUD1 = USD 0.72. That is about the current offical rate. I have never found that the exchange rate offered by AA, when you come to payment, is anywhere near as generous as that. In fact the prices on the two sites will come a lot closer together when you get to payment, in my experience.

So put it on hold, as Dave Noble suggests, and see what they want to change you when you call the UK or the Australian office. You can decide if you want to proceed at that point.

Just managed to book on AA.COM from Australia with no problems. Used my nephew's address (in the US) and my credit card number (from Australia). They obviously don't have to match. Getting 210 QF Scs for about A$800. Pretty good value if you ask me! Gets me to Gold this year.

So this is probably a silly question, but how do you search using the "price and schedule" option on the AA Australian website? I have used the US site quite a bit to look at YUP/KUP fares, but can't seem to do it in the Australian site.

As an aside, any suggestions on the best YUP/KUP routes for SC earn?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to AFF Piperlance.

The "price and schedule" search tool does not currently exist on the Australian site so there is no option to use it. In general the Australian site will give you less options for any given route than the parent site. As well, there will usually a maximum of one transfer per itinerary on the Australian site. So, if the objective is to maximize SC's the US site is often the best at least as the starting point for comparisons.

That's why I ended up booking on the US site - more options and cheaper. The Price and Schedule option seems to be irrelevant on the Australian site because Instant Upgrade comes up anyway - but not as many options.

Hey Guys ..

I am having similar big difficulties with aa.com AUS website:

- When booking I constantly get:

' * The fare for the flights you have selected is no longer available.

Please contact Reservations for assistance with making a new booking and quote “15012”.

American Airlines apologises for any inconvenience this may have caused. (15012)'

its as if the local website only updates once a day with price & avail adjustments .

- Fare discrepancies as above
- Local aa.com on +61 7 3329 6060 is on permanent hold !!

I have some flights on hold through the US aa.com - no way I'm paying $60 booking fee over the phone so I think I'll fudge the address as well.
