For those who are experienced with AA F and IB J, which would you pick between the two?

Would be either FRA-DFW in F with AA, or
MAD-JFK in J with IB.

The problem is I don't know whether it's the Business Plus of just the normal business on IB. It's an A340.

Thanks

IB6250/IB6251 is an A340
IB6252/IB6253 is an A346

So i assume the first flight is an A343 and the latter as stated an A346

The normal business class is only on there A319/A320//B75x/MD-xx fleet so i assume all A340's have business plus. Having said that it does not look all that special :(

I assume for a 7-8 hour flight maybe AA have there good product ??

Have flown AA First and IB Business Plus...AA first service was outstanding and the bed fully flat...IB has an angled flat bed similar to Qantas and their service from EZE to MAD was impecable...So a flip of the coin but for me AA and the new flat bed

Well i have flown AA old F,old and new J and IB business plus(JFK-MAD) and I would pick AA old J over IB any day.The product was good but the food and service was shocking.Inedible lamb that someone had emptied a salt shaker into and the rudest crew I have experienced.I have now even planned a transit in LHR when flying JFK-MAD this October.Allright I have asked for an upgrade on JFK-LHR leg but not using IB came into that decision.

I'd pick AA F over IB J (or any other J) any day, even better if you get Flagship Suites which is one of the best F seat in the industry IMO. I hear all the 777s have been redone with the Suites but haven't been able to confirm.

I subscribe to the mantra "F is still F..." (well except domestic F in the USA :p).

Yes, all AA 777s now have suites in F.

Is there no other deciding factor other than the seat - where do you have to leave from and geto - shouldnt that be a consideration?

I would agree though that the Flagship suite is one of the better products I have flown in (admittedly only comparing QF, Old CX and AA) and F is always better than J :p

I believe all AA 777s are now First Suites and NGBC Business.

I assume the general opinion would be it would be well worth shifting 34k Amex points into AA (25k points) for a NA-Europe upgrade on a DONE?

Do you know anyone with spare eVIPs to upgrade you for free? When are you travelling?

I personally would swap from AA to BA for that flight rather than use points for the upgrade to F.

looking at DME-ORD on a DONE I am about to lock-in, so obviously no BA flights... (decided I wanted to experience Moscow).

so reading up about eVIPs, am I right in assuming that some of the Aussie based ExPlats would have eVIPs to burn.

Some may - but it all depends on your timing as the ones earned in 2007 expire in Feb 2009.
