Using OLCI for a domestic AA flight LAX to SJC last month I was offered the the option of receiving the boarding pass electronically on my mobile which I thought I'd try out.

AA send an email with a link which you open on your mobile - on my iPhone this deposited the boarding pass image containing a 2D barcode to my photo roll.

This worked no problems at LAX T4. Security didn't bat an eyelid and simply asked me to place the phone screen down on their scanner which was built into the counter. Also worked no problem boarding at the gate with the equipment there - though by that time I also had a regular boarding card - they were unable to accept electronic cards at the lounge.

Still, very useful for avoiding the hotel business centre just to print out your bp to get through security, though I think QF's planned use of your QFF card will be a nicer approach.

Cheers,
Steve.

But the AA approach works for any passenger with a suitable phone, not only for passengers with a particular airline's FF card.
