Qantas pilots are being pressured to carry less fuel on Airbus A380 flights as a way for the company to save money, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

"Reductions in discretionary fuel do not impact safety but increases the risk of passengers being inconvenienced"

"The cost-cutting measure saves an estimated $3000 per flight."

Qantas pilots 'pressured' to save fuel

Oh come on... That sounds like union talk to me...

This is Qantas. Safest airline in the skies. :D

Annoyed that I missed it.

I'm assuming that it pulled up to the terminal etc as per a normal aircraft?

I only ask as I have only seen the A380 in ADL during trials when she never connected to the terminal.

I am fairly sure ADL is A380 ready

I am fairly sure ADL is A380 ready

A quick check of the runway specifications for ADL has it with a width of 45m, which is approved for use with A380 ops as of July 2007.

On gates, A380 is designed to fit within the standard 80m box but from memory all the ADL gates are only single door.

And my ability to read aerodrome information is a little rusty, so I don't know if the taxiways are rated to Code V which is the minimum requirement for this aircraft.

Anyone able to fill in these blanks?
