Just a bit of a warning, but I've just been stung again with goods missing from my luggage whilst travelling via KUL. I've narrowed it down to checking in at KL Sentral in the city, so be careful and if you can, check in at the airport. This time it was a bottle of 19 yo Glenfiddich!!!

Oh...that's not good to hear:( If travelling MH, I always checkin at KL Sentral.... How have you narrowed it down to KL Sentral and not KLIA or even your home port?

That is not good at all. I would complain and continue to complain until I got some satisfaction.

Sometime perseverance pays off.

There are active luggage thieves at all MNL airports as well, particularly T1.:evil::evil:
Hate them with a vengeance at any airport.

Small comfort perhaps. but having 'goods' inserted would be more of a worry.

Do you think the plastic luggage wrapping might be a deterrent here?

of course, but 12 to 20 legs per trip x 8 per annum equals a lot of plastic (and not offered at places like KL Sentral). More importantly the amount of security we go through at airports you (naively) expect the same for you luggage.

yes TSA locks on a Delsey bag

Also use cable ties, the ones with a serial number. Bag wrap works. I did extensive African travel, I was at one stage going to travel with a live python, Africans hate snakes.......

Its frustrating they X-ray the bags and disable the security camera. It's organised crime essentially.

Always complain loudly, officials hate the attention. This forum is good for voicing convpcerns as journos lurk here as well.

Make like as unfair table as possible, write to the ambassodor,MAS. Management etc

It all takes effort but change management is never easy

The same thing happened to my nephew recently who was flying SIN-Paris via KUL. His bag went missing in KUL for 3 days and when he finally got it back someone had broken the locks and been through his bags- they weren't impressed with the contents so they took nothing...but still not a good experience

Although it seems convenient re: Train station checkin (Hong Kong Kowloon, KL Sentral.etc) I've never trusted them enough to use it, I only want my bags handled in the 'somewhat' sterile and more secure environment of an airport than having my bags sitting at a train station in the middle of the city then man handled onto a train carriage.
But like anything, it can happen anywhere anytime, though I like to lessen my risks where at all possible. I don't tend to lock my bags I use the plastic bag seals with unique numbers on them.

Rather like the TSA in the LOTFAP then ;)

Same thing happpend to my suitcase whilst in transit at Jnb....they cut the lock and zip on my bag...unfortunately for them, they had a choice of either mine or +1s dirty clothes / underwear...they chose neither!! We were prewarned about Jnb to not put ANYTHING of value in the checked bags!
