Having gained the 40k points from the ANZ offer, it was time to cash them in and go in search of more offers. First up, I rang and their offer was waive the annual fee on renewal but still pay the QF 'fee'. Not good enough so card closed. Next day, Mrs ashleyn rings and gets an offer to keep the card for another 3 months for 5000 points. Well that's a no brainer. How do these call centres work ? Some sort of standardisation would be nice.

Personally my view is that if you cancel cards as soon as you can it can bite you on the bum later on.

I always keep my cards for a goodly period before cancelling them before the 12 months is up

Making a poor credit trail by quickly churning leaves a negative data trail.

"Yep, with the new credit rules in place now, I do not think I can recommend jumping ship very often or at all.
