AFAIK these are not called that anywhere in Australia usually either known as a potato scallop or potato cake. Funny how things have to be renamed for the American market.
Not that simple. In the US they already had a dish they called scalloped potatoes so to call our potato scallops by that name in the US would be a tad confusing.

Not only that they were introduced into the US by an Australian and if you are an agricultural show tragic like me you may have even tried them at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. That woman who introduced them to the US often has a Dagwood dog stall at the Royal Easter show and does sell Australian battered potatoes there.
This from twitter at the 2018 Easter Show.
"SHOCK NEWS: The person responsible for introducing "Australian Battered Potatoes" to the United States is Australian herself. Carmel Dyer also has a Dagwood Dog concession at Sydney's Royal Easter Show."

Then of course Australian shows virtually all have Dagwood dogs which of course originated in the US and there called corn dogs.
The traffic isn't all one way.

Yes ,not to mention the American obsession with Ranch dressing 🤢
On the plus side, they actually had Chicken salt for the first time I can recall.
Might have plain salt and vinegar by next year. 😂

My last day in the US , managed to fit in a final baseball game due to it being an afternoon game.
A relatively quick 50min drive from So Cal back to the hell hole that is LAX.
Every time I’m here I’m reminded why I avoid the place wherever possible.
Upgrade to whY+ was successful, and last I looked a vacant seat next to me, so will see if that holds.

A orderly boarding for QF 12, between the ground staff at LAX and the auto gates boarding seem to go smoothly.
For those not familiar with the auto gates, you come up to the gates and stand there while a photo is taken of you. If all is okay with the photo, you get the green light and the gates open for you to board, if not a red light and off to your right hand side to be manually processed by a gate agent.
Service on board in whY+ was fine, a bottle of water at the seat on arrival, then a offer of sparkling wine/water soon after sitting down.
A delayed departure by around 15-20mins as paperwork was done on the flight deck.
For the meal shortly after takeoff I took the option of the Irish Stew, which while edible was heavily salted and isn’t going to be winning any awards.
A uneventful flight during the night, despite having to try and get out of my seat a couple of times when those in front fully recline, making it some form of contortion to get in and out.
A decent tasting Breakfast of Scrambled eggs, Chicken Sausage
,with Bacon,Hash Brown and Tomato salsa around 1hr from Sydney, with a touchdown not long after the due arrival time.
A slight delay in deplaning, as Quarantine came on board.
No problem with the e gates, but baggage took the best part of a hour to show up, making me wonder if I should’ve invested in some Apple airtags, but eventually both bags came out.
Had been hiking when in Honolulu so being honest on the incoming passenger card ticking yes to that, saw me diverted to Quarantine who just asked if I had any soil on my shoes, which was a no.
With that I was out into the arrivals area at Sydney, so ending my trip report.27441A32-FA51-4A2C-9241-15F56BD6F8C2.jpeg
