Hi Guys,

Firstly, I'm about to do a trip from Honolulu to LAX on Delta, I'm a gold Velocity member, does my status allow me for baggage on Delta, the Delta site says something about partners but I couldn't fins anything useful on the topic?

Secondly I think saw something about earning status credits on Velocity flights (points flights) until July or something due to the website update, am I dreaming or does it actually exist. I can't find anything about it now.

Found the answer to part 2 on page 8 :)

For a limited time only, you will be rewarded with Status Credits when you redeem your Points for a Reward Seat with Virgin Australia*.
Simply redeem your Points for a Virgin Australia marketed and operated flight and travel between 13 January and 30 June 2013 to take advantage of this exclusive offer.
Status Credits are used to determine your level of membership in the Velocity Program. The further you fly and the higher the fare class, the more Status Credits you earn. Click here to learn more about the benefits you can receive at each membership level.

Q1. The Velocity website mentions priority boarding, checkin, etc. but no mention of increased luggage allowance. I'm guessing that you're flying on a DL flight number, rather than a VA codeshare. I do not know how this will work, but I do know that people have not received gold/plat luggage allocations with NZ coded AirNZ flights. My guess would be that you will not get your increased luggage allowance. The partner references are probably only talking about SkyTeam partners (eg. FlyingBlue or MileMiglia). Have you seen: http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/traveling-with-us/baggage/before-your-trip/checked.html - Look about half way Dow, the section titled "SKYMILES MEDALLION MEMBERS, SKYMILES CREDIT CARDMEMBERS FROM AMERICAN EXPRESS AND OTHER EXCEPTIONS". It only talks about "Medallion" members (Delta), SkyTeam Elite and Alaska Air MVP... Not hopeful. But as I said before, I haven't tried it... so hopefully someone will come along and explain that I'm wrong... *fingers crossed*

Q2. That's on the Velocity "Special Offers" page for Airlines.

Quite a boon if you can get the flights to make use of it. I'm sure a lot of people around AFF will be sad to see it end. There's a spreadsheet with the best value reward seat status runs, too... :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I had to pay for checked-in luggage on the Delta flights I took in the US recently. You can always ask though - good luck! :)

Hi, I'm just about to book a flight with Delta - one thing I couldn't quite work out, do you pay the checked in luggage fees up front when you buy the ticket or at the airport when you check in?

I paid at the airport when I checked in - $25 per piece.

I don't have access to my laptop just at the moment so can't look this up for you.

I have found the virgin web site is actually quite comprehensive regarding allowances when I have used it for NZ and SQ so I would assume the same applies for what you want.

Hi Punkley,
If you are Velocity Gold or Platinum and booked through Delta to fly Delta you qualify for the following benefits:
Priority Checkin
Priority Baggage
Priority Boarding
Priority Screening
Lounge Access.
Sorry no additional baggage.

And your 2nd question – yes Status Credits promo on Reward Seats until 30 June; whilst Points & Status Credits on Any Seat redemptions is an ongoing program feature.
