Hey

Is there a way of checking my upcoming CX flights (FRA/HKG, HKG/SYD) online, choosing seats etc without being an Asia Miles member?

The flights are part of a OW RTW booking, I have been able to easily access my AA and BA flights but CX has done my head in

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Oh, another Q, does CX treat OW E members nice or is the service similar to QF - basically nonexistant on the plane?

cheers, Mr!

To look a booking up for a CX flight online you need to actually have your AM/MPC number against the booking/segments.

To choose seats send polite email to AustSales Group [[email protected]] seems to work better than calling. It about a ½ day turnaround.

That's correct; AA/BA you can select seats, QF/LAN you can look at them (on checkmytrip) but CX I need to contact CX and verify with E/F seat maps. CX seating changes (made by CX) generally not show up on AA or Qantas.

Yes ... many reports of oneworld emeralds being treated really well.

I don't believe that can be done. I have always called CX Reservations number and asked them to do the seat assignments for me when I havenot been able to get the TA issuing the ticket to do it.

Yes, they do treat OneWorld status members well. Twice a OneWorld Emerald (one as QF plat and once as an AA Exec Plat) I have been upgraded from J to F. I have never, in all my QF travels. received an op-up to F. CX has op-upped me twice out of 3 long-haul flights where I was booked in J and there was an F cabin on the aircraft.

In J they seem to treat all passengers well. I usually receive a personal welcome from the CSM, but its possible everyone in J gets that.

I have not flown CX in Y for about 6 years, so cannot comment on treatment of OneWorld status members.

IIRC you can only preselect seating on BA if you are at one of the higher status levels in their FF program.

Or if you are of high status on another oneworld program (if your emerald or sapphire status is properly entered in the booking).

As a QF WP last year I was able to select seats online with BA flights several months before the travel.

I note munitialP is QF WP.

In my experience, CX treats OWEs better than QF treats me as a QF WP. I've probably only had a personal introduction from a QF CSM once, out out of (more than I can be bother to count) QF flights, but every time on CX flights, and 2 J->F upgrades on mini-CX - Dragonair!

Just ring CX, they will allocate seats for you being a OWE, and yes they treat OWE very well, i really love CX as an airline but i know its not to everybody's taste. I have been upgraded a number of times on CX but then again i also have on QF, i guess its just luck and the right time :)

Unless trying to select 1A and/or 1K in the first class cabin on a 744 aircraft ;). For that you need BA specialdom.

Or OW Emerald. The key aspect is that any 1st passenger can pre-select seats

Not only will the service be better, but there is a much greater chance of being upgraded to J from Y or F from J on CX than QF.
