Bit of a long shot but just wondering if any one could help me out.

I will be visiting Tasmania this winter.

I made a flight in Autumn 1990 to Tasmania, not sure if the flight went Melbourne to Devonport/Launceston to Hobart OR

Hobart to Devonport/Launceston back to Melbourne.

I am trying to locate where I stayed, the reason I am asking the above is that Devonport/Launceston MIGHT have

had better servicing facilities for aircraft.

I recall we had the same crew members on the last flight from Melbourne to Tasmania

and on the first morning flight out of Tasmania to Melbourne.

Well Virtually every time I flew MEL-DPO_MEL I had the same crew. Always had the last MEL-DPO flight on a Sunday and first DPO-MEL on a Saturday or Monday. The crew on the last flight into DPO overnight there but 2 of them lived there.
Is that the info you want?
PS. A warm welcome to AFF.

Welcome to AFF @infoman .

Not sure of your query. I'm pretty sure by 1990 there were no intra-Tasmania flights by Ansett or TAA. That is, you would have flown MEL direct to either DPO or LST or HBA and returned same. When I was a kid in the 1970s I think it was MEL-LST-HBA at least on some flights.

Does that help?

Thank you for making me very well come, and the replies.

Sorry to confuse,it was actually December 1988.

Always use to look out for the new Qantas time table booklet when published,

loved the front cover when it stated proudly "Qantas the only all 747 air line in the World"

Just wondering if there are any aviation memorabilia. fairs or shops in Victoria or New south Wales.

where I might be able to pick up some 1980's airline time table booklets.

Do you know if it was Australian Airlines or Ansett?
If Australian Airlines, mebbe it’s worth checking the details for the Qantas museum at Sydney airport & see if they have anything of interest?

There were MEL-LST-HBA flights, in the evening and return the next morning, in 1989 when I moved to the big island. Pre the pilots 'dispute'.

Don't recall there ever being MEL-DPO-HBA/LST flights on the 80s.

There were though MEL-KNS-DPO-LST flights in the 80s. Forget which airline but not QF.

Given the date, the first of the 767s wouldn't have been far away.

Don't think it was Airlines of Tasmania from Essendon or Moorabbin.
Had a look at how much those old airline timetable booklets are on e-bay,
never thought I would ever regret putting those Quantas booklets in the paper recycling bin.

Sorry hit button by mistake, also wanted to ask,
which was the larger service center for the aircraft and
where would air crew sign on Devonport/Launceston or Hobart?
Thanks again for making me very welcome and all your replies

Yes, I have a fare guide which must be from sometime between 1986-88… it lists fares for HBA-LST and v.v on jet service. Both Y and F. I’m not at home at the moment but could dig it out next week! I think the fares were something like $47 and $70 respectively, one way.

When TN/AN operated HBA- CHC (with a QF flight number), sometimes the 727 would operate from SYD - LST- HBA before and after the CHC run.

Found my fare guide from 1989… bit out on my recollection!

One way fares HBT-LST or vv were $89, $102, $134 for YJF respectively. Interestingly standby for economy was just $25!

By comparison HBA-MEL was 179/206/269.

MEL-SYD was 194/223/291.

Not cheap by any stretch considering that was 25 years ago. And Rex is only charging $249 today for business class each way MEL-SYD!
