QF source have mentioned the latest Captains Choice tour schedule with a QF 747 chartered, just in case you run across it in your travels and wonder why it's there:

Boeing 747-48E VH-OEB departed Sydney for a Captain’s Choice Tour of South America today. The itinerary is:
30/5 - Sydney - Papeete - Havana
2/6 Havana - Panama City
4/6 Panama City - Guayaquil
7/6 Guayaquil - Lima
8/6 Lima - Cuzco
11/6 - Cuzco - Rio de Janeiro
14/6 Rio de Janeiro - Iguassu Falls - Buenos Aires
16/6 Buenos Aires - Easter Island
17/6 Easter Island - Sydney.

Must put something similar on my bucket list.

Shame we can't get QF SCs on these trips. Could make a good excuse for a double SC run.

Here is the brochure for this tour:

Hmmmm, at those prices I think I'll op to do it myself... And maybe take about 4-8 RTW trips... Especially as your away for a whole 2.5 weeks...

Great itinerary but I recommend doing it on your own at those prices! I'll be adding Easter island and Cusco later this year so only Havana & Panama to go...

While I appreciate it’s a premium all-inclusive tour, the prices without SC/points earn seem absurd, especially when the amount you’d get back would cost minimal to them. If I was going to pay that much I’d be petty and expect to make something back off the flights… that and I’m sure in any port with a OneWorld lounge as it’s a charter lounge access wouldn’t be included :( :p

FA on a Q300 was telling me about them the other day.

Sam, some travel for the experience of travel itself without any expectation of a reward, and some travel for the purpose of refueling the ego when it comes to chatting about your "exclusive" tour for the next ten years.

And some (the target demographic) have the money and the cost is not a major concern for them. For many older people, being full escorted and having a doctor on the tour is worth a lot of money.

I received the latest brochure the other day. They have trips in April & May 2013 that combine Orient Express (Venice to Paris) & Queen Mary 2 from London to New York & includes some Michelin dining. My interest was in the pricing differences of the flying options
Y=$22,195 (total trip price)
Y+= $24,435
J= $30,250
F= $36,995

For Sydneysiders (380 to London) Y & Y+ fly Y from London to Venice while J & F fly J & same arrangements from New York to LA. No details that I can see for LA-Syd

These people are not on a status run :)

And some would have no idea what a status credit was:shock:

I'm not the target demographic but that does seem crazy.

I had a fancy Abercrombie and Kent brochure here though, has anyone tried a private guide via them? I.e. not a group tour. I was thinking for a place like Burma or Namibia it might make sense. I don't know what the prices are like though.

If there is such a demographic out there, sounds like i need to get into the tour industry!!!

I'm going to run tours of SJU airport and it's immediate surrounds. I'll even throw on cheap F travel from the US west coast ;)

In all seriousness there is some seriously exclusive tour options out there, maybe when I am 85 I'll think about them, until then I want my damn status credits :)

As for existing QF routes, Maybe the Captain can have a chat with the planning division at QF and suggest they put on a regualr flight Papiette to Havana

Its hard enough to get to that part of the world from Aust

Would be a great option to play with for FASA/JASA

Havana is awesome

The only place I have ever been not touched by the onslaught of America's influence for the last 50 years
