Said hello to some AFFs on the way to the Xmas do.
Nice to meet you too albeit briefly...

"Good sleep overnight but woke with some abdominal cramps.. uh-oh…let’s say the runs has begun… so from this time onwards let’s say I was quite regular"

You have just made certain that we will not be visiting India.
Mrsdrron is freaking out enough over Africa!
So I am enjoying your TR even more as this will be my only experiences of India-through the eyes of fellow AFFers.

I'm with you drron, really enjoying your pics and TR KitKat ..... !
Lovely trip report and photos. Whilst I have been to many countries, I have never been to India, and it is not high up on my bucket list. The image painted by a colleague about another colleague who had to run to the toilet but didn't make it has never left me...when I asked how did he know he didn't make it in time...he replied that a wet patch could be seen developing at the back of his pants:oops::shock:!! I know I'm stereotyping India but I don't have the best stomach at the best of times:oops:....maybe will go and see the Taj Mahal one day!

Lovely trip report ...maybe will go and see the Taj Mahal one day!

The traveller runs can happen anywhere though and probably India is the place that would be the least embarrassing for something like this to happen. The majority of people in India don't have access to a toilet. Think about that for a bit.

Husband was basically backpacking around India so not staying in salubrious accommodation but his thoughts of New Delhi was that he couldn't wait to get away from it so they didn't persist in seeing the Taj. They did spend 8 hours on a bus that also carried livestock and teeming humanity. They had a toilet stop. But no toilet. Just an open drain. For the whole bus. And bulls grazing as you went about your business. They loved India though!

Thanks for your report. It's interesting.

Like some of the others, India is not high on my list of places to travel. I would like to see the Taj Mahal but that's about it.

Thanks for reading, back to the TR.

Woke up and had by now my usual Indian breakfast of Dosai.
Driver arrived promptly and we started our drive to Delhi.
Took about six hours with a break at the midpoint.

It was a rather quick drive , reached speeds of up to 90km/h, a little unnerving.... not something I recommend, noting how worn out the tyres are on all the vehicles.

Arrived in Delhi just in time for us to finalise the shipping for our previous purchases at the government emporium in Delhi. +1 then had a quick browse through the store and bought some fabrics.
Then it was to the hotel for check-in.
While I was being checked-in a chap tried to get the person checking me in to check them in as well – was promptly told to wait. I guess a DYKWIA moment.

ITC Maurya Delhi

In the diplomatic quarter
Booked: ITC one room
Received: ITC one room (told had been upgraded – maybe to the larger rooms on the floor)
Most room features (lights, tv etc) are controlled from an iPad – pretty nifty
ITC one lounge – quiet, small but would be a problem of it is busy – they may just ask you to go to another lounge (I think there are a few in the hotel)
Booked the ITC one rooms as I think they are the most recently renovated.

Some room pics
