I have begun accumulating points/miles on AA to elevate my Status, as my QF WP has been earned for next year. I was looking at the earn rates for AA on QF flights
To ensure I got the best return for a flight I figured that Y- does not get much return unless you get booking class K,L,M,V or pay full economy.
So I called AA to check the price difference to get in these classes, it was not much so I booked in L Class
Winner, I would now get 50%EQM and 1 EQP per mile, which on at ADL-JFK is a nice earner.
However this is incorrect and where the trap lies.
Whilst it says "Base miles EQM =50% , so half miles return, the EQP states "Elite Qualifying points earned per mile" = 1.00, which I read as 10000 miles= 10000 points
But the fact is that it should read, EQP= 0.5 or "Elite Qualifying points per EQM, because that is what they claim it to mean

So to just clarify on another class
If you book in O or Q class you get 25% EQM and 50% of the 25% EQM which is actually .125 points per mile.
Not sure how some one could work that out from the information given

Am I not the only one who thinks this is deceptive?

I can see it both ways. I always read it as EQP multiplier of EQM. That resembles reality. However over the years I have had to correct more than a few who have got it wrong.

It is indeed unclear - but AFF'ers have an advantage as this is clearly indicated in the AA Challenge thread.
