Thank you for this wonderful report! I was thinking of only changing planes at Dubai on the way to Europe before reading this, but now I will definitely make sure I stop over for a few days. Some really gorgeous pictures on here as well.

That is almost the identical menu I had in J flying to HKG (Lunch one) last week.

Good to see they still have Vegemite on the menu. Does anybody speak Arabic and are you able to let us know how it translates please? Is it a literal translation of the actual word or a descriptive translation?

Well I have finally got some time whilst my kids are Chipmunking and I have iPhone, iPad and personal hotspot going so I am posting pictures not already posted by markis10:

I did love the number of the supplied trolley (001 if its not clear):

A pic from our walk. Some people think this hotel is overrated. I personally have enjoyed my stays here and I recommend it. Fantastic restaurants. However the room service is just a bit too intuitive for my liking. After we finished eating there was a knock on the door and the butler was there to clear away. This has happened every time.

Below is the fountain. Well worth a look.

We had booked for dinner here in July but had to cancel the trip due to work and other stuff. I think missing this was one of my biggest disappointments.

This intuitiveness sounds like the major Hotel in Red Square Moscow. Mr Pushka was travelling with an Australian Shooting Team when he mentioned to someone in his room that the shower head had fallen off as he was taking a shower. He hadn't left the room. Ten minutes after the conversation there was a maintenance man at the door to repair it. Rooms bugged methinks.

He wasn't able to leave the phone on the hook because every few minutes there would be a "Lady of the Night" calling the room asking if he needed extra care.

Russia circa 1986.

I stayed at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel which is next to the Burj Al Arab (to the right and behind your pic). Took a shower, went out of the room for a short while and returned to find a new replacement towel. That level of intuition has always puzzled me . They must have sensors somewhere .
