Hi all,

I had a hunt around trying to find an an answer to this one on the SQ and VA forum but no luck.

I'll be flying on a Singapore Airlines booked flight that will involve a domestic leg to Sydney on VA metal, but codeshared with SQ.
I'm an Aegean and Turkish Gold (love a good status match) and a VA Silver.
I know I'll be able to get in the Sydney SQ lounge outbound using my *A Gold, but will I be able to use that status in the VA domestic lounge prior to the domestic flight to Sydney given it's an SQ flight number?

Similarly when I fly back from Singapore and transit to a VA domestic flight - will I have better luck then?

My hunch says no, so worst case I can use my spare complimentary VA Silver pass - but would love to save it if I can.

Thanks!

Just wondering where is your domestic flight to/from?

Canberra. One day we may be able to fly direct from here, but that day is not yet ;)

How did you book the SQ Codeshared flight?
Just asking because I want to book SYD-SIN on a380, but I'm in MEL, so will have to do MEL-SYD on a separate flight, but if I can do it all in one journey, might be cheaper/easier.

From memory, you can book SQ coded flights (on VA aircraft) only from non-SQ ports (CBR, HBA, LST, etc). You can book via VA codes from all ports on VA website, so VA MEL-SYD and VA(operated by SQ) from SYD-SIN.

I have a feeling the answer will be no as the marketed flight is SQ and the access by virtue of Star Alliance - VA will not recognise Star partners except those that they have direct relationships with like SQ and NZ.

VA don't have agreements with Aegan or Turkish, so your *A Gold will not grant access to VA lounge domestically

Thanks all - I had a feeling it wouldn't fly. I'll still be able to use the SQ lounges though, although with the customs strike not sure I'll get much time in the Sydney one!

ninja-tim, I hadn't realised that you couldn't book 'connecting' VA flights from MEL/SYD etc. I did have a look at booking on the VA website as well, but for some reason at the time the price difference to the SQ site was astronomical even for the same flights.

I assume you can book VA codeshare MEL-SYD-SIN. I'm doing the reverse in December and was booked through VA website
