It had been a long morning and I was plum tuckered-

.
I thought they were going to leave me!

Now I really was tired so I have no pictures of lunch.Seeing I have no pictures I now cant remember what we had.
At predinner drinks we had a long chat with the manager. The lodge will be 10 years old next year and will be closing in July for refurbishment.
Also next September with the Kangaroo Island food festival Maggie Beer and Matt Preston will be over.

At dinner that night we invited an American who was by himself to have dinner with us.Turned out to be a great evening even though he was a lawyer-though he managed satellite broadcasts for smaller organisations. He also enjoyed his red wines so we went on a tasting spree sampling the Rockford's basket press,Wynn's V&A shiraz,Yalumba Menzies and Signature wines and a Hollicks pinot noir.Great as you only need to have a glass and the rest of the bottle will be that nights or next days wine of the day.
But to the food-

So this was to be the end of this TR but we have booked another quickie. When I finish work at Launceston mrsdrron will join me for a few nights in Launceston,2 nights at Maq01 and finishing with 3 nights at Saffire.Be back then.

Overall would you say the GSOL was worth the money (especially if you don't get it on special)

For us it was.Pretty sure most would not.
We are in an unusual situation where I can earn enough to enable the trips we do despite retiring nearly 11 years ago now.

That night we dined at Stillwater.A top class restaurant we have visited 3 times before. For starters I had the shaved calamari on potato noodles with a Japanese sause and bonito flakes whilst mrsdrron had the chargrilled tiger prawns with dashi aioli and iceberg. Both really nice-

.
Washed down with a bottle of Relbia Estate pinot grigio.A bit of kerosene at first taste but with a little air was perfect.
Totally recommended with the icing on the cake that night was it was also in the Amex shop small promotion.More than made up for the 2% surcharge.

So on to Thursday and a bright sunny day.Perfect for sitting on the deck at the Seaport enjoying fish and chips.

Friday and overcast all day.Went back to Alps and Amici. Now when I went by myself I didn't need a quiet environment. However if there is someone you want to talk to this place isn't the place. The acoustics are terrible. Not helped by all the other diners being ladies who lunch and talk loudly.
A bottle of sav blanc and I had a glass of dornfelder. If you want to try it this is the place.
38250345286_ec88ff29c0_n.jpg
.
Mrsdrron's meal wasn't the best.Pasta with peas and asparagus. It came with parmesan and a lemon butter sauce. However the sauce was all butter and concealed the lemon and parmesan.

.
My duck though was excellent-

On the way back to the hotel we stopped at Woollies to buy some fruit.Mrsdrron found a lot of things she had been looking for that were on special.$102 later we were finished. And no WW rewards for us in Tassie!:(

Saturday now and another bright sunny day.Have to pick up our rental from the Grand Chancellor as the hospital car has to be returned. So down to City Park and a walk around before the Tasmanian Design Centre opens at 1000-it is worth a visit. So some pics of the park-

Now mrsdrron was going to have the beef cheeks and I was going to have the lamb. She then decided to swap as she didn't think she should have 2 beef dishes.

The lamb was not as she expected as it was described as slow cooked.Obviously though not for long so we went back to our original choices. The beef cheeks were excellent.I enjoyed the lamb but it was somewhat tough and like Manu-where's the sauce?
A side of Kipfler potatoes.Once again a lot of potato-
