I just remembered two things I did want to add.

In Singapore we finally went to the Asian Civilisations Museum. I must admit I was very impressed. What was really enjoyable was the free tour offered by volunteers. We were lucky enough to be part of a tour conducted by a French expat. Her theme was the influence of Asian culture on France from about 1700 to 1900. It was very interesting to hear about the French experience after having mainly heard about the British side for years. She covered ceramics, cloth etc. I was very surprised to hear, literally as she had a tablet, the influence of Gamelam music on Paul Debussy . It was a fascinating 45 minutes or so.

Risotto style maybe? I’m betting it wasn’t sharp wonderful Parmesan but gooey fatty US tasteless stuff.
