A Curio for Melbourne

It looks like a Curio is on the cards for Melbourne from later this year. The property is the current Next hotel at 103 Little Collins Street. It is a smart hotel and even has a Club Lounge. I think that Diamond access to Executive lounges is not a feature of the program for Curios. West Hotel has a sister.

It would be great if Diamond access *is* a feature. Pre-Covid, the West Hotel used to give you comp drinks and snacks in the bar area, but that was a long time ago. Given my stays w Hilton have significantly declined and I won't be Diamond (or Gold, or Silver!) from 1 Apr 2024, we were thinking of a last-hurrah trip to Melbourne before then to sample the Hilton Little Queen St, which we've never stayed at. But given I've never been blown away w its lukewarm reception on AFF, I'll be looking out for reviews of this one. Thank you for the notification!

No room bookings possible yet but it says it will be part of Hilton on the 13th December. That was quick!

The hotel already exists but it will be interesting to see the Diamond recognition. Dining already set-up with La Madonna but no buffet menu yet. An executive lounge at a Curio... interesting.

Where did you read that?

I had access to the EL in a MCI Curio earlier this year.
I stand corrected. Thank you. Following is the quote from the Benefits FAQs. I must have misread it. The issue here may be the lounge size as against the number of Diamonds likely to stay at the property. I think this will be a popular addition. Time will tell.

What is the policy for Executive Floor Lounge Access?

The following policy applies at all Conrad® Hotels & Resorts, Curio - A Collection by Hilton, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, and DoubleTree by Hilton™ hotels that have Executive Floor Lounges. Excludes the Sakura Club at Conrad Washington, D.C.

  • If you are an Hilton Honors guest with Gold status, you and up to one additional registered guest in the same room will be granted complimentary access to the Executive Floor Lounge only if you receive a room upgrade to the Executive Floor or an upgrade to a room type that confers Executive Floor Lounge access benefits.
  • If you are an Hilton Honors guest with Diamond status, you and up to one additional registered guest in the same room will always enjoy complimentary access to the Executive Floor Lounge, even if your stay is not booked on or upgraded to the Executive Floor.

Rates for this hotel are now on line and bookings are being accepted for stays from today (December 13, 2023). Initial rates are mind-boggling - all over $900 per night. I suspect these may be a first loading and will come down. Let's hope so.

Looks like rates are lower than LQS during off peak periods but during events it is a bit more expensive.

Was going to use the FNCs for the Australian Open but it's all sold out...
