The pre-ChatGPT ones were just passing, i.e. they weren't exactly 7 GPAs, despite needing to mentally break their backsides to get into the programme in the first place.
No one ever felt bad about it.

AI generation errors are going to be the new "but I ran it through spell / grammar check".
In both cases, they should not be excuses and fully eligible for dismissal / write up if the perpetrators double down.
