Hi all

I have an upcoming SYD-WLG trip coming up. Currently scheduled to fly in whY for a total of $575.

The issue is that the only flight options are early morning SYD-WLG or late evening SYD-WLG (6PM arriving midnight). I need to be in WLG for two full days Wed/Thu and thus am currently flying back at 6AM on Friday.

I have dug around on experflyer and can not find anything that has more reasonable times. Basically I am not that keen on flying into WLG so late at night (although for my body it will really be 10PM).

Is there a better way to get there without arriving so late?

Have I missed something obvious?

Cheers

NZ/Virgin has a daily 9.20am flight SYD-WLG, gets into WLG at 2.30pm. Also 3.30pm WLG-SYD. Usually about $329 on a Saver fare.

I wasn't that keen on the morning flight to WLG seems like a waste of a day.

The flight back isn't an issue as I will then have the whole day at home before going to Jeddah the next day.

The problem is that the way over is a 5 hour (from SYD) or nearly 6 hour journey (from MEL) taking time difference into account, so it really is a whole wasted day. Even taking the earliest flight out of SYD after the curfew, you still end up arriving after noon.

The best way is to go the night before (the 6 PM flight) or take a flight to AKL the night before and then a red-eye to WLG. I don't like the AKL-WLG option as that eats into sleep time.

I have done the SYD-AKL-WLG route (in J on LA) and the big downside apart from the time was flight on JQ...

Any reason why you're not so keen on flying in to WLG on the late QF flight? It's one of my favourites!

I detest any morning flight to NZ......it's a claytons visit in the Flounge:shock:
