88 killed in Aeroflot crash

The last time I flew Aeroflot it was an IL62M so I consider myself lucky.

If the following is true then it's possible we all should have some concerns.

"The cause of the accident was not immediately clear, though a source quoted by RIA Novosti suggested that an engine failure could have sparked flames on board and led to the crash."
 
There seems to be a spate of crashes at the moment, not to mention the odd near miss, such holes being ripped in the fuselage (don't know what the stats are though, just a gut feel). I hope this all just a co-incidence and not something that can be linked to high oil prices that are forcing airlines into cutting costs, including maintenance.

To be fair though, Aeroflot have lifted their game somewhat over the last few years. They have plummeted a lot less lately than the used to!
