I've been checking the 2015 Jan fares.
The OOL-NRT 11:20am departure is shown as on Dreamliner.
Has this been announced?
edit: I thought there were East Coast storm & lightning risk problems with 787.

Ain't seen any East Coast or lightning issues.

Batteries maybe.

But JQ needs their 787s so QF can get its A330s....

I'm still hoping for the MEL-NRT route to get a sub - flying JQ for the Japan F1 GP in October.. already got one bonus in the DXB retiming meaning the F Loiunge will be open

Couldn't agree more with the extended opening hours of the MEL FLounge.

When I departed on JQ35 ( MEL > NRT) last week, the QF J lounge ( international ) was literally bursting at the seams with people.

With 3 JQ flights departing later that evening along with the QR flight to Doha.

The staff at the lounge appeared to be overwhelmed at just how busy the lounge was, with many patrons complaining at the lacklustre F & B offering that was offered with no Hot food options other than a soup option.

The extended hours for the MEL FLounge couldn't happen soon enough to take pressure off the J lounge IMHO.

The problem was icing of the engines going through clouds at 40,000ft. I thought GE (please correct me if I am wrong) who manufactured the engine would have had a fix for this by then, as they were working on it. I can't imagine the southern monsoon being unique, with the northern monsoon going all the way north to 40 degrees in East Asia, thus there would be a strong imperative for the engine manufacturer to correct it.
I take OP is a skier based on pic and destination. I just wish VA would put a weekly 777 to CTS during the ski season :)

There is a 787 engine software issue causing problems when they fly near storms. This is why JAL pulled 787s from the SIN route and delayed putting them on the SYD route. GE was expecting the issue to be fixed by now, but there doesn't appear to have been any update on the problem.

787 OOL NRT from July with JQ

Thanks to airlineroute.net

Jetstar Airways from 24JUL14 will begin Boeing 787 operations to Tokyo Narita, initially operating 1 dailyGold Coast – Tokyo Narita service, replacing Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

Plenty of other places to ski in Japan without being surrounded by bogans in Niseko

I'd love QF to bring back MEL-NRT-MEL but with JQ getting it, I have to fly via SYD still :(
