I decided to take advantage and booked a quick getaway to Adelaide between Christmas and New Year. Original Fare was $450 return so to pay 'low season' fares (i.e. I paid about $375 I think) was a bonus. I have been to Adelaide a number of times before (about 11), but by then it will've been more than 18 months since the last time I went, during Gather Round in 2024. I went to Mt Barker for Sydney v West Coast and that inspired me to see more of the Adelaide Hills.

Unfortunately couldn’t be used with a prior credit / voucher. The similar NZ / AKL offer a while back had a similar constraint.

Anyway, the current $229 each way SYD-ADL isn’t particularly great either…

My guess is it is $75 off the pre-GST price. I doubt that would be intentional though as it's not usually how discounts are done in Aus.

If you are referring to the the numbers not adding up, the discount has already been applied to the $235.50. Add the $1.60 card fee you get $237. The discount is actually applying at the flight selection part in the price you see there, not at the checkout.
