Have a flight to YVR in December, solo traveler. Never been in the nose of a 747, although have flown upper deck multiple times. Given this may be my last flight on the 747, I've selected seat 1A. However as I'm traveling alone, I'm considering changing this to 2A. Want a window seat in the nose, which excludes seat 3E/F and 5B/J.

Wondering how restricted the first row is, I understand it may be more difficult to access the aisle? How does the cupboard in the front of the plane work, can I store my bag there, or does it need to go in the second row overhead bins?

While the absence of a next seat is good, I still prefer 1A. I like my back to everyone...:p:p.

That said, to know that @Daver6 has sat in my seat is hard to swallow... - like one of his Vin Jaune wines :p:p:p:p
Row 1. Nice for (romantic) couples. Nice and secluded.

Well I was travelling with MrsDaver6...so who knows what I did in your seat @JohnM

As for having your back to everyone, you must feel terrible on QR when you're facing everyone in your suite :p

Thanks for the input everyone. Will stick with 1A.

Not certain that this will be my last 747, but fairly likely with QF retiring them soon. Most of my international flights are are on A330's these days.

We've flown 'main' cabin in centre (first ever QF J), front cabin in row 3, but never upper deck, so I've gone with 14 in both directions, JK there and AB back, for our SYD-SFO flights in July. If we don't like upper, the load back looks light so might see if we can move back downstairs for return.

I can’t comment on QF 747’s 1st row in the nose, but having travelled on SQ 747’s in row 1 in years gone by the ‘bragging rights’ factor will never leave me. I’m rapt to be able to say I’ve travelled in the front row of a jumbo’s nose and way more than up top in the hump.

We have flown many times with different airlines business class 747 and enjoy the bubble most as it seems quieter crew seem more attentive up there but does depend on the crew every time you fly

I'm flying to JNB in September, hopefully my last time on a 747 and have booked 14A and 5B so sounds like I am on a winner. I have say in 1A in the old F cabin and it was great for the forward looking windows so I will now choose comfort / sleep over bragging rights...

My last 747 was on the Syd-Per route last year. Was travelling with 9yo. I had no choice. TOP DECK is a must for the littles. It feels more exclusive. The hump is a special place on a plane as there is only 1 plane where you can fly in the hump. The minds of children. Gotta love em.

I am flying Emirates A380 in February and was allocated 1K. SeatGuru says to be wary of row 1 due to proximity of the bar, but I figured I won't be in row 1 too often, so I should stick with it......and maybe it'll be me at the bar annoying the other passengers rather than me being annoyed. lol. Then I had the dilemma of well if I'm in row 1, should I go for 1A rather than 1K. For some reason I just feel more comfortable on the right hand side of the plane. But still 1A sounds more prestigious. Just typing this out has made me think more about it. Maybe I'll go 1K for BNE-DXB, then change to 1A for DXB-LHR. This seems like a good compromise. Haha, first world problems.

Seatguru is right! In April I did FRA-DXB-BNE in 1A both sectors on EK A380s, and it was certainly pretty exposed to the forward galley. Long walk back to the bar too . If doing it again I’d go for row 2. Got op-ups to F a few times in the good old days and always given row 2. I can see why.

BTW I like 1A on the 747 for the unique window view, but like upstairs more. A little bit of magic in climbing the 747 stairway:).

Cheers skip

The "Bar" is at the back on the top deck, but there is a mini First Class bar at the front where the showers are. It is a 3-class A380
When flying F with EK the only thing I care about is making my way through the bottle of Hennessy Paradis...I have no time for the shower or walking to the bar aft of the upper deck! :p

What? No Dom?
I think Dom and the Hennessy for me. Sneak the Dom into my shower from the F mini-bar. Gotta try everything. Probably won't be doing F ever again.

I am just after a little guidance here if any one is still on this thread.

I am going on my second and possibly last 747 trip. This time with the current GF. We have scured 14 A/B but to my possible concern, it appears that the window may be pretty hard to see out of from what I have just read.!

All of the pairs on the left hand side have been taken and we wish to be on the LH side.

Is there any good news about the view from 14A?

I am sure there might be someone from row 2 or 3 willing to swap but I presume this would be challenging to manage!
