I'll certainly be watching it if I can - dunno what it was - but climbing those stairs on an SQ 747 was just magical - only up to J cabin but it was magical. Even after a doz flts in Suites Cruiserette still says her favourite seats were those purple sky beds on top deck SQ 747.

I read some history of the 747 in some random magazine recently. It highlighted the massive change that the aircraft had on the industry.

Then today while I was wandering in a Levi´s outlet store in Miami, I saw that Levi´s had this poster that went on about how classic their product was. They said that if a time capsule was done to show off the best of the last century, there would be some reference to the internet, a photo of the moon landing, a Beatles album, and a pair of Levi´s. I would say that you would have to chuck in a 747 too :)

And they keep getting better.

747 Intercontinental = absolute beauty.

A copy of this doco mysteriously appeared on my media player today. Just watched it. A bit of typical TV-style hype, but very enjoyable to watch nonetheless.

The YouTube version might have been pulled down but I still found it with a Google search. If I remember correctly it was about the 5th or 6th result when searching "Boeing 747 documentary" Shouldn't be too hard to find for those still looking. FWIW I thought it was interesting without being too revealing. They had some nice coughpit audio from the test flights which I hadn't heard before (but I'm told has been around before). Still, hard to make something new from a 40+ year old story.

It's very easy to find ;).

We really enjoyed watching it, well we all did up until the ACI part and then the kids started getting nightmares about getting on our flight home from CNS
I particularly enjoyed the footage from the 60's and 70's. Photos are great but actually seeing what it was like to travel back then, absolutely amazing.
I really love the 747, it's definitely my favourite aircraft both from a nostalgic POV and also from the fact that there's nothing else currently flying which replaces that J mini-cabin on the upstairs deck IMHO.
I hope Boeing keep these going forever.

I was there then - but travel was far less easy or affordable than it is now, so the pics show the few elite. The advent of the 747 was the real turning point and the rest, as they say, is history.
