Late Friday, Boeing Commercial Airplanes Programs Vice President and General Manager Pat Shanahan told employees that, starting Monday, August 30, he will add oversight of the 747-8 Freighter and Intercontinental to his job as general manager of all aircraft production.
The current 747-8 general manager, Mo Yahyavi, will take on “a special assignment.” Yahyavi pushed the 747-8 F development program into flight test and the passenger version Intercontinental through production. But the airplane’s first delivery schedule has slipped more than a year off pace and is now into early 2011.
While praising Yahyavi for being instrumental in getting the -8F built and into flight test, Shanahan said he is making personnel changes “in an effort to align resources.”
