I like them both but if you want a guarantee that you don't end up in the centre seating downstairs on the 747, then go with the A330. I think they are quieter than the 747.
When on a 747 I always try to travel upstairs because of the side bins.. They are great for backpacks as are overhead storage. If you have a max size carry on, then as Dave Noble says, the overhead bins upstairs are too small. In that case I just ask the FA's to stow in the closet..
