Aadvantage e Shop has current promotion for magazines.com where you earn 60miles for every dollar spent. With this, 1000miles will cost about US$16.7 which I think is cheaper than the 50% bonus promotion AA sometimes runs. The e-shop also has a promotion where you get 750 bonus points for a spend of $75, 1500 points for a $150 spend, and 2500 points for $250 spend. The sweet spots are if you spent exactly $75, $150 or $250 when the cost per mile should be even lower, at around US$14.3 per 1000.
I think for us in Australia the kicker is that magazines.com will only deliver to the US, so will not get the magazines you pay for..

Hopefully this might be useful for someone who needs some cheapish miles!

Great find.
Current promo on AA website.
Buy 60k miles get 18k miles bonus for a total of US1808 including taxes. Works out to be 2.32c per mile.

If you spend US1808 instead on the magazine website you would get 1808*60 = 108,480 miles.
Plus the 2500 miles bonus on $250 spend. You would get 7 of these for an additional 25,500 miles for a total of 133,980 miles. Works out to be 1.43c per mile as mentioned by murrayc26.

I know where my money is going
Does anybody here live in the US and want a few magazines :mrgreen:

The only thing is I wonder if there is a maximum dollar spend etc ?
I guess I can always buy some today a few tomorrow etc and spread it out a bit. And of course the wonderful thing about this promo is that it wouldn't add to your purchase limit of 60k a year.

A great find, thanks again.

I have so US friends who might get a bunch of magazine subscriptions shortly.

Eligible on Magazine subscriptions only (automatically renewed subscriptions are not eligible). Not eligible on purchases made with coupon or discount codes that are not found on this site. Journals and International Magazines are not eligible.

When you are being taken to the magazines.com link, the above statement appears. I'm a touch worried about that middle sentence ?
Also need to be careful to avoid ineligible subscriptions.
Hopefully when you pay there is some sort of confirmation e.g., this purchase will earn xx_xx AA miles, etc.

If you subscribe to all 38 eligible magazines it only comes to $509.43.
Looks like they've left me no choice, I'm gonna have to go for multiples :mrgreen::mrgreen:

Saw this info this morning and this could be something that will get my AA acount going! Thinking I'll just get the subscriptions posted to my MyUS account and ship them when I have a bunch other stuff coming...

Can you kindly explain how a MyUS account works ?
Cheers

Very interesting thanks for sharing, might get a few copies for myself.
The travel ones seem like a goer to help me figure out where to go with all the AA miles I would be accumulating !

I am an AA newbie but just looking at the AA chart.. If I was to spend $1200~ on magazine subscriptions.. would that not give me enough miles (72500) for a F one-way say MEL-LAX ?

Yes correct but good luck finding availability !
You need to be extremely flexible and be looking 10-11 months out. I have seen tickets available from time to time but you need to be quick.

I have found the availability to be bit better on the LHR routes.

Yep that was my thinking. However still looks pretty good for say MEL/SYD-HKG in F...

I thought QF F was very rarely available to AA members as it was all snapped up by QF status pax before it was even released to AA?!

Very rarely yes, but not impossible. I've seen MEL/SYD to LAX come up a few times, but only because I check the AA website regularly.
Just now I checked and Oct 21st and Oct 22nd departures on QF11 from SYD are available from the AA website.

So how do we know which magazines are not :Journals and International Magazines
