Hi legroom, just wondering what sort of explanation you provided with immigration? Were they ok with you just saying you were popping out for a few hours?

Yes, that was what I offered - "... just a walkabout... wandering .... see the city ... BTW, I have an onward ticket this pm if you want to see [he declined to see that]...."

If you write "transit" in the hotel thing they usually don't bat an eyelid. I've done it about 5 times in the last 2 months. There's even a tick box for transit under "purpose of stay".

Agree, 'Transit only' has never invoked any further questions for me.
