What am I doing wrong?

KUL-SIN-CNX with MI* flight number comes with 10,625 KrisFlyer miles, i.e. 15% discount. At which point is the 50% discount applied or is the following condition in play?

*50% discount applies to the miles redemption for Economy and Business Saver award tickets to selected SilkAir destinations only (excluding taxes, fuel surcharges and other fees). No changes or cancellations are permitted for bookings made under this promotion. Other terms and conditions apply.

And oh boy are SQ taxes and surcharges high. We know that already. The taxes on KUL-CNX return in economy are ~AUD280 which is not much less than revenue airfare.

I think you need to book KUL-SIN and SIN-CNX separately.

Edit: CNX not on the list.
