Hey guys, first post here and it's a question...

I received a 50% bonus status credit email yesterday, have to book within the next week, and valid for flights until early next year.

I clicked the ‘Register’ link, and it says registration complete, however I wasn’t logged in to my FF accound (is it a unique registration link?), so how can I confirm that my account is actually registered for the bonus? I have a number of flights left for the year which will get me over the Gold line if I use the bonus points, so I want to be sure it’s valid…

Cheers!

Do not worry. Each email is unique to the QFF member so when you clicked on the link it registered your membership number for the promotion.
Just remember the bonus only works for new booked flights, not exisiting bookings, so if it gets you to a new level congratulations on enjoy the benfits of SG:D

Welcome. The email has a unique link that ensures logging into QFF is unnecessary.

Thanks for the replies guys! I thought that might be the case but wanted to confirm.

Will get the rest of the year's flights booked :)

Lucky you! If you purchase some gift vouchers and use them for your flight bookings, you'll be earning points on the gift vouchers and saving on credit card fees even before receiving the 50% bonus SCs... Have a Golden Christmas!

Does anyone know how long it takes to post the bonus credits? Base points were posted a while ago (and continue to be posted). Tx.

Hello everyone,

Another first post here.

I received a "7 days only - your 50% bonus Status Credits offer" e-mail from Qantas Frequent Flyer on 24-Mar-2015. Said offer was valid when registering and making a new booking between 23-Mar-2015 and 29-Mar-2015 for travel until 21-Jul-2015.

Unfortunately, I neglected to take any action until 2-Apr-2015. But when I tried, the resulting web page returned "Registration confirmed".

I also have a booking made (by a third party) on or about 30-Mar-2015; maybe 31-Mar-2015 or 1-Apr-2015. It is for two flights on 26-Apr-2015.

Currently QFF Gold with a membership anniversary on 30-Apr-2015, I require another 180 Status Credits by then to keep. After these two flights, according to my calculations, I'll be short 95 Status Credits to retain Gold. Even if I was to somehow receive 50% bonus Status Credits for these flights (and by 30-Apr-2015), I'd still be short 52.5 Status Credits.

So I trawled through my mailbox(es) and found a "50% bonus Status Credits for a limited time" e-mail from Qantas Frequent Flyer on 14-Oct-2014. Said offer was valid when registering and making a new booking between 14-Oct-2014 and 31-Dec-2014 for travel until 28-Feb-2015.

For what it's worth, I can't recall if I registered in 2014. But when I tried the relevant link in this e-mail (also on 2-Apr-2015), the resulting web page returned "Registration confirmed".

Whilst I did travel on flights on each of 24-Feb-2015 and 28-Feb-2015, they were booked after 31-Dec-2014. Now, if said bonus had somehow applied/accrued, that would have been another 90 Status Credits - still five short of where I need to be as at 26-Apr-2015! Or over if I was to somehow receive 50% bonus Status Credits for my flights on 26-Apr-2015.

In the opinion of community members, do Qantas Frequent Flyer staff have any/much discretion in how Status Credits are issued? Should I bother calling and discussing in the hope that I can somehow wrangle enough bonus Status Credits to keep Gold.

I look forward to any advice.

Regards, M.

Hi TagitTravel,

No. I did not get the status bonus(es). :(

Also, based on advice received elsewhere, I did not bother calling Qantas Frequent Flyer staff and testing for any discretion in how Status Credits are issued. Similarly, I chose not to undertake any status runs. So I did not keep my Gold status.

By the way: I booked SYD-DFW-MCO, MIA-BOS (American Airlines) and JFK-LAX-SYD (with two-day stopover in LA) prior to my membership anniversary of 30-Apr-2015 and travelled SYD-DFW-MCO before then. And prior to travelling MIA-BOS on 4-May-2015, I checked online and noted that my status had changed to Silver pretty much immediately.

Yet the Gold/Sapphire 'privileges' (e.g. free checked baggage) applicable when I booked MIA-BOS (American Airlines) were honoured/maintained on the day without my having to do anything. Even though now Silver/Ruby, the boarding pass still showed Sapphire.

I'm almost certain that it was the same for JFK-LAX-SYD (with two-day stopover in LA) later that month. But with a Qantas Club membership prior to reaching Gold status that would otherwise apply, I did not pay close enough attention to say for sure.

Finally, I travelled SYD-BNE return and SYD-MEL return this week and all my boarding passes still showed Gold/Sapphire! The aforementioned Qantas Club membership supposedly expires end of next month so, upon renewal, and for any travel undertaken thereafter, I will be interested to see what these future boarding passes show.

Regards, M.

#1, it all depends on your class of travel while over from Au to the US and within.
You can check your QFF statement now, they usually do have my flight details about 2 days after my flight.
From what I could tell from QFF SC calculator, it will give 145 in whY, more earns in the other classes. That was a return for 145 SC.
FlexY earns 185, which if you travelled in this one, will be quite good.
