I know this might seem a little strange for an AFFer, esp one that love flying, but I'm curious as to if there are others who have taken annual leave for such a long time (in my case, 5 weeks), but didn't go near an airport.

Today is my first day back at work (so expect to see me back on AFF again, I've been a little quiet over the last few weeks), but over my leave the closest I got to an airport was driving past CBR airport a couple of times, plus going out to brand depot which is near the CBR airport runway.

That's not to say I didn't do things during my time off, but everything I did was within a couple of hours drive of CBR.

So, are there others out there who have taken an extended amount of time off work, but haven't gone near a plane?

My last flight got me to WP1 and I haven't flown in 6 weeks :) next flight isn't for another 10 days, then it gets busy flight wise.....

I had my first month in a long time with out seeing the inside of an aircraft or an airport lounge. I actually rather enjoyed it.

Not for that long, but thinking about taking a week off and driving to Port Macquarie (from Sydney) rather than flying somewhere.

I enjoy a good road trip as much as anything but don't seem to get the time to do it properly.

Kinda over long road trips. Used to love them prior to having kids, when it was just the missus and me (and I never flew), but these days after the second hour all I can think of is "If we had flown, we'd be there already"...

I've been through 2 extremes over 7 months - and it's not because of a baby! I flew back on a Monday morning after the ANZAC Day long weekend last year and went straight to work only to find out that my position had been made redundant. Before I started a new job in late November, my wings were clipped for 3 months until late July after which I went on 28 flights in the space of 4 months (which included an already planned holiday to Europe and 2 status runs)...

If I am taking annual leave then I am actually going somewhere. Hopefully I go so far away that requires the use of an aircraft to get there so it would be difficult to avoid airports.

I have not taken time off work- but due to local based commitments I have not flown since beginning of December . Has to be the longest "grounding" in the last 15 yrs. Is it right to feel withdrawal symptoms?

I would have managed eight weeks last year, but half way through I had to get another 30 day visa exemption.
Good excuse for a day trip to HKG.
