40 SC short of retaining Platinum ex MEL

Ooops - I had it all worked out but missed that the DSC don't count towards the loyalty bonus. Am on 485 SC towards the loyalty bonus and I roll over at the end of this month.

Checked and J fares this late are too high to be palatable (I'd aim to earn the 40 SC outright - and keep the loyalty bonus for next year) - MEL-ADL coming in at $963 and I'd still need to get back on points.

I had planned to have a minimal travel year next year and pay the 120,000 points to extend the status (Plat with LTG) next year but I am not sure if they will let me do that two years running.... I have a heap of points which I plan to start using once world travel settles down again so I am keen to hold onto the ability to request seats being opened up and lounge access for that travel.

Any suggestions or advice welcomed. I do have an email offering to extend the status which I assume will be the 120,000 points offer. I am waiting for the DSC to post before calling.

Alas, insufficient earn. We retired from the paid work a couple of years ago and expenditure on everything has dropped.

We want to travel in Taiwan and in the US but for obvious reasons not for another couple of years. Our usual travel was an annual Hong Kong/Taiwan trip plus domestic - we intended to continue that but....

Green Tier (50 SCs) is technically possible but it’s got a lot harder. If you can find and do a “Green” stay quickly - that’s the long pole. Offset a future flight (you don’t need to have flown - you might even have to cancel for unforeseen reasons). Some green wine and then a donation.

Surely there is some Jetstar max flight that you can do to earn 40 for not a lot of dollars ?

Hm, green tier is possible - would cost around $300 or 45,000 points, plus booking a flight which I could do. Would it all credit in time?

Easily pick up an economy classic Award back.
Can be done as a turn around.
Plenty of availability at the $500 mark before the end of July.

JQ economy Max has long been enhanced away. Its now just Business Max or Economy Max booked via QF (which usually is a very high price).

Looks like Alliance flights do not earn SCs even though they have a QF flight number? Would be a good option otherwise!

That’s incorrect. Alliance flights are QFLink and earn full SC and points.
I fly these routes often

Cheapest ways I can see for flying it before the end of this month is a MEL-SYD-BNE turnaround on Tuesday 28 - can do it for $747, or Saturday 25 a MEL-NTL in J plus a return economy award on Jetstar for $566 plus 5,700 points. - more expensive than the green tier option, but will definitely credit - even if it needs to backdate. Depends how much you want to spend, and what it is worth to avoid 5 plus hours in NTL (no lounge) before a JQ economy return. Personally, I would think the all Y QF option (with lounges) is the better experience.

If you do Qantas Hotel ie Ovolo in South Yarra ( you can check out online) green leaf came through within 48 hours and of course wine was the same @falconea

But agree with others to knock over flights on the weekend/by end of the month
