My aunty will be arriving in Sydney (from Kuala Lumpur) tomorrow, and then gets on a flight to Fiji 4 hours later.

My question is, is she able to leave the airport during this 4 hour transit? We were hoping to meet up for her to pass some of her luggage off to lighten her load for her Fiji holiday.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to AFF Stolsham! Assuming she has the right to entry the country, there is no reason why she shouldn't be able to.

Simple answer is yes - just make sure she has a BP for the next flight so there's no having to wait at the checkin

also note flashware's comment on being able to enter...

Mr!

Suggest if your aunty wants to shed some luggage and have a meeting with you that you get her to checkin as far as Sydney only, you cannot leave the transit lounge , get some luggage and clear customs, once you get through the transfer security point thats it, so the simple solution is arrive into Sydney and clear immigration/customs.

Your Aunty will then have to checkin upstairs for the onward flight with baggage that she wishes to have in FiJi. Dparture Tax should not be an issue, its not payable for visitors transiting Australia in less than 24 hours.
