So what happens here? I'll hit WP after landing in Dubai but am unlikely to get 1st lounge access nor WP points bonus on the second flight?

Current Status:Gold
Status reassessment will occur:31 Jul 2014
Status credits earned from 01 Aug 2013:1,365
Additional Status credits required by 31 Jul 2014 to attain Platinum:35

Fraid so, unfortunately. The QF flight has to credit to your account, unless you can convince the lounge dragons in DXB!

Sometimes the flight credits while your on it but more usually it's next day or thereabouts.

Doesn't seem fair does it. You really should be allowed in. Qantas should have a policy on this. It wouldn't cost them much but would be good relationship building

My flights to LHR take about 2 days to credit usually.

Don't think you will get into the F Lounge in DXB as EK will have no way of verifying your eligibility. You should get the WP status bonus for DXB-LHR once it credits.
Not sure how big a difference it is between the J and F lounges as I haven't been in the J lounge.
Choices are:
Proactively contact QF now and see if some sort of pass can be organised for you
Book flights to get the 35SC before you go to LHR.
