Hi All,

Live in Sydney but I have an 11am VA flight (J reward) out of ADL to another domestic destination.

I need a positioning flight SYD-ADL (Y paid) and there is a 6:45-8:30 or an 8:40-10:25.

I know the 6:45 is the safest option but don't really want an extra 2 hours in a lounge (and the earlier start). We would only hav carry-on which make it easier.

Any advice on the 8:40 flight and whether you would do a 35min connection?

As a VA WP, you might get away with it.

What later flight options to your next destination out of ADL are there?

I have done it before, however, you really are pushing it, and dont really enjoy the flight, as you are stressing the whole time.

It depends also on the weather. We don't have too many disruptions, but fog will do it anytime. And you are relying on a timely takeoff in Sydney. It would just take five minutes delay anywhere and you will be stressed. Why do that? Adelaide airport is not that bad for plane watching if you haven't been there before. if you arrived perfectly on time it doesn't take long to get to any other gate.

Maybe book the later flight and try fly forward on arrival?

35 min connection will be fine as long as you are on VA for both flights.

I would ring VA and tell them so they can link your bookings together.

I would not risk it, even in ADL. Whilst it may be fine, I'd not ever connect with less than 45 minutes (unless the frequency of the onward flight was sufficient to ensure I was not left there for an extended period) but when on two PNR's, definitely not. Linking PNR's does not provide any protection in my experience (and what agents have told me).

Have you thought about and checked the possibility that it will be the same aircraft for both flights. If it is - problem solvered.
