Hi all.

i'm looking for the most efficient way of earning 31 status credits ex Melbourne to retain platnum.

I have about 1 month to do it in, and unfortunately have little need to go anywhere

any suggestions ?

cheers

You might find a trip to the Gold Coast (via SYD) is your best bet, earning you 40SC. You can do a day trip and get back mid-afternoon quite cheaply, there's also a sale on currently that can help if it's not an urgent request ;)

Thirty would be a doddle ... it that danged 1 that's gunna cost.

The MEL-xSYD-OOL fares are not as cheap as they used to be, but one of those with a direct return can earn 35 sc's.

Consider Jetstar too. With a bundle you can easily grab a few extra SCs.

Direct return on JQ, or driving up to BNE? Because there's certainly not a direct OOL-MEL.

I assume your current years status credit balance ending in a 9 is owing to a few flights taken under QF's alleged premise of earning 50% extra SC's for eligible flights?

The same thing has happened to me on 10 different sectors, resulting in 10 lots of 0.5 Status credits missing: ie 5 SC's.

Since when is 50% of 15 equal to 7? Or 50% of 25 equal to 12? Has anyone phoned the QFF service centre to argue for their 0.5 SC's? After all, these promotions are not being underlined as earning a "bonus 46.6% status credits". Or are QFF IT programmers incapable of handling a decimal point?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Most likely they will comp you for the next year. We were 300+ short and both of us were comped for this year. But 31 SCs are easy to get if you don't wish to risk it. Plus, you'll most likely get a 50% SC bonus for the final month...

I would not count on that strategy. Comps are very rare indeed, even when having held WP 5 years, Mrs Steelo was sent pack to SG when she fell short this year.

That's certainly not the norm, so thank you for sharing that piece of information.

Personally, I would do a very quickie MEL - SYD J and back in whY.
OR MEL - ADL.

Why in J? that one way would get the 40SC required. That routing would earn at least 50SC. It would cost far less to do JQ JetFlex fares both ways to get to 40SC. Or, QF MEL-BNE r/t, Discount Y, but longer flights and probably a bit more $$$

or for fun, do JQd MEL-SYD on JQ37/38 sectors at international terms, use the F lounge and enjoy it. :)

I do think the 31SC would be comped as others have suggested.

Given the missing point is probably 2 x 0.5 points that are "owing" due to earlier rounding down, why not call QFF and see if they will credit you the single point that disappeared - leaving a nice round 30 to achieve.

Then just a MEL-BNE-MEL in discount Y to requalify.

Better that than "burning" a comp to WP that you might need another time.

Not sure the cost, but you could do a quick turn-around flight MEL-CNS-MEL on QF702/703. 15 SC each way in Discount Economy, 30 SC each way in Flex. So 45 in Discount one way, Flex one way.

CNS seems a long way to go (~8 hours r/t inc turnaround) and prob cost about the same as a JQ Flex MEL-SYD imho.
