So here's another sneaky little marketing trick by the "gurus" at head office.
I've just booked two pairs of flights for a weekend in Sydney next year
First for Mrs D and me - logged in to QF and booked as a Silver member
I minute or so later I booked the same flights for two friends, using a different browser without logging in, cos I don't know their details or even if they are QF members

Five minutes later, two emails arrive offering hotels in Sydney - exactly the same in all respects EXCEPT our non-member friends have been offered a $30 off voucher.
Mrs D and I get zip!
This sort of cough sickens me. Is it random or is it targeted because they appear to be non-Qantas customers?

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

I booked an Auckland return recently, and received (and used) the $30 offer. I am SG and this was the first time I remember being targeted for this sort of thing. Got a room for $120 so was quite happy with the service.

So I would call it random marketing ....

I got the same voucher yesterday when making a booking while logged in and with my QFF number added to the booking.

Is this on the e-ticket receipt?

I booked 2 one-ways a few days ago and the e-ticket receipts have different advertising in them.

I've had the same offer, but it was after I had booked direct with the hotel because it was a better deal than through QF Hotels even with the $30 discount.

I had this offer too for recent flights booked to Hawaii...I could have used it for a good rate at Park Royal Tullamarine Airport prior to our flight the next day ($180) but the offer was only for 72 hours for the booking period and we are not travelling till November and I could not make a decision

Really not sure why we are still surprised by this. Marketing budget typically is spent to either
a) get people who currently dont use a service to use it
b) get people who do use the service to spend more

What it not used for is to give people who are already using a service a discount (unless in association with point b) above). While I understand we dont like it, there are plenty of stats to suggest this is indeed the best way for them to spend their budget, i.e. people who use a service frequently are "sticky" and will continue using even in the face of not particularly great service so why cut your profit margins. This site provide plenty of proof of people who are loyal to Qantas regardless, ( in fairness perhaps only out of neccesity in some cases).

As has been shown on some of the other threads (e.g. EDR, FlyBuys, Qanatas Cash) sometimes disloyalty is the way to attract offers. Not saying I particularly like it, but I've learnt to live with it, and in some cases take advantage of it.
