30 day Admirals Club memberships get the chop

Picked this up from the one mile at a time blog today:

"American is discontinuing 30 day Admirals Club memberships as of July 25, 2016"

A shame, this was a good option for people to get QP (and AC) access just for a particular trip.

... and probably one of the reasons they were discontinued !
 
Cant purchase after July 25, or can't use after July 25 (implying last available for purchase June 25...)?

Currently planning a trip to the US, was factoring this in my decision... :(

I thought about this a week or so ago - but the monthly fee was well in excess of the annual fee... even counting that you might use it more since you specifically bought it for one month's worth of intensive travel.

This doesn't look to be a QF initiated action because otherwise AA could have simply excluded QF lounges.
