3 Weeks in Japan - The Post COVID Version!

JAL 787 economy is probably one of the best out there (2-4-2 compared to most airline's 3-3-3), I'm not sure how much but you can have a look.

Pre COVID I also fly with CX, SQ and CI, all cheaper than QF - with the added benefit that they all fly to more than just Tokyo. Fukuoka for example, would be great for your trip.
Thanks @rbjhan for a thoroughly enjoyable informative TR. Cannot wait to go back to Japan.
Excellent

Thanks for a wonderful TR. Unfortunately have to wait until the beginning of October but then 4 trips in 9 months to Japan.
I hope you didn’t mind all the interruptions.

I am sure you will absolutely love the next time in Japan.

Ha I'm not sure I can do 4 in 9 months!
Where are you going?

Awesome TR, thanks for taking the time to share!

We will be going back to Japan next May so can't wait although things will be a little different now as we have a 2-year old todd tagging along...

Things will be a bit more restricted I would expect 😅

I'd appreciate if you could elaborate on what Cod Milt is for those not familiar with Japanese cusine... 😂

Great TR, a very different itinerary to what I will do but has certainly got me fired up to be back in Tokyo in a week!!

PAL was $3200 return Bris via Manila. Qantas flights $7200, all economy and 4 of us. Ridiculous compared to our many previous trips here. We are platinum QF so gave up some niceties but at that price….. couldn’t even think about it.
China Airlines (Taiwan) is really good (and good value) for Japan destinations.

October is a week in Tokyo and Yokohama before a cruise from Yokohama to Cairns.

December will be Christmas with the family in Tokyo. Will be fleshing it out in the next month. The family have never been to Japan before so a week in Tokyo and some time in Osaka and Kyoto. Then they will go skiing and we will escape to some place warmer.

March 24 cruising Bali to Yokohama followed by a 10 day cruise around Japan for cherry blossom viewing and then a few days near Tokyo for other spring flowers - wisteria, peonies. Azalea and rhododendron.

July 24. Hokkaido driving trip. Two weeks then somewhere else in Japan.

Wow that is indeed a lot!
You seem like a cruise person so that would be fab.

I like the overnight ferries in Japan but would not be caught dead on a cruise...🤣

On the train back from Yura...

And if anyone has a helpful hint about wearing masks all day and night without fogging up my glasses, I’d really appreciate it. The combo of glasses, beanie, masks is hopeless. I’m in more danger of falling over than catching covid, I fear. Help!!!

Use a proper N95 mask as they shouldn’t have an air leak so no fogging of glasses. Certainly worked for me over 2 years.

Is that different to P2 I’m wearing? I’m also a desert dweller so the humidity with glasses was a big challenge yesterday. Today it’s sunny in Fukuoka and we were all ok. Was going to hunt for Stop Fog Gel or equivalent product. Maybe new masks. It’s pretty much 100% wearing indoors and outdoors.

Thanks for the tip.

P2 is the Australian/NZ standard complying with the Standards Australia AUS/NZ 1716:2012 standard and N95 is the US standard N (NIOSH) and 95 (95%). They are almost the same with about a 1% difference in filtration. P2 is 94% but considered easier to exhale through.

Thanks, thought I had chosen carefully when I bought them in bulk.
