This will sound like a massive whinge.

Maybe it is! In Perth lounge awaiting DJ562 today (6 Dec) and nursing a boarding pass that puts me at the back end of Business on the aisle, where presumably first choices of everything on the menu will be totally exhausted, and I'll be served last. With no window view - I do enjoy watching Esperance and those little islands and weird land lakes glide by, before the big bight.

Understandable on a full flight, but not since I had selected 2A for myself beforehand, and somehow, inexplicably, I am bumped. Possible reason may be that I am on an upgraded Flexi (with points), but still ....

Anyone had this happen?

Was 2A your orif=ginal selection?

i.e. I find that changing my original selection and completing the "sale", then going back in and reselecting the seat I really want tends to ensure I get it.

OK, now I'm home - and happy!

Yes I was bumped to the back of the J cabin, and on boarding (after told the middle seat was empty) there has Big Kevin. In fact, every seat full - including the centre seats in the group of 3 on the older A330.

It took a while to get a drink, since the CA worked from Row 1 back. Thereafter, it took a while to get fed, same scenario.

However to my very great surprise, they did not run out of things. We had choices!

So despite the booking snafu which remains unexplainable, a very good service delivery and product - except for Big Kev. At least he was a nice guy.

Side note: watching everyone load their baggage into the overheads I counted 6 QF bag tags, mostly gold or plat!

Is there a 'new' Big Kev? The only one I know of passed away 7+ years ago?

maybe his evil twin ...

[I always inwardly laugh when I see those discs on peoples carry-on ... they are useless when sported in that manner].

Hilarious - but my bad. It was a Kev - and a big one at that! Managed to use almost all the armrest - ergo the unpopularity of this middle bank of three seats, since there is not the privacy one enjoys in the new design.

- Who was in 2A?
- Why couldnt the lounge re-allocate you 2A?
- How did they account for the seat change?

I know i'd be unhappy with a 2A --> 4F switch (sure, not the world's biggest issue but as has been pointed out multiple times regarding VA's seat selection, why offer seat selection if you dont make it "stick" and just swap for seemingly no reason.).

Lounge could not see my earlier 2A just 4F. She had no explanation and I couldn't determine who was in 2A.

All strange.

I had a similar issue today on Qantas.

I had 23K->4E->5K and then settled on 1A! ;) If only it gets a chance to get off the ground.
