Just got off the phone from QF, had a seat ticketed last night for monday evening flight and looked today, said upgrade was closed, seems that it closed some 36hrs before departure.

Just as i write this maybe thats correct since the flight number originates from LHR so could be within 24hrs even though i am on the SIN-MEL leg.
Sound normal ?

Anyway the person on the phone put in my upgrade request... so fingers crossed, anybody care to guess my chances ? (meaning i will the system even look at it ???, i know there is some free seats in J/D/I and F/A)

... seems that it closed some 36hrs before departure. ...
That's interesting; IME the online upgrade request appeared to be based on T-24 from scheduled departure of your flight. i.e. Cut off for an 11pm flight is 11pm the day before.

However, 'phone agents can generally do it for you based on the calendar day.

Mind you, my experiences are generally at the 90 day mark; not 1 day. :)

The cut off period for a request on an international flight is 24 hours before departure from the originating port of that flight.

So if you're booked on a flight from Singapore to Sydney and your flight is coming from London, the cut off period would be 24 hours before the flight leaves London.

I guess since you haven't posted further details your upgrade request did not come through.

Oh well! I hope you had a decent WHY seat pre-allocated and those FF points will come in handy another day.

John, you were correct, upgrade did not come through, but the reason i had not posted as i had to work today, so 6:30am arrival, 10:00am work ! see why i wanted an upgrade, but good old 36C on the 744's is ok. (i dont like 35C as the entertainment box from the row in front is in a bad position) and front row i am in-different about. Still 3rd row from front pre-allocated seems to be ok to me.
whY was full, almost 100% as far as i could see.

I did notice that entertainment system seemed a lot more responsive than i remember on 744's, and more CD's loaded i think. Maybe a small upgrade or change along the way recently.

Yes, the points are always welcome :) for another day.
