2026 Qantas Preflight Safety Video

Haven't seen anything from QF but there was a new (or different) video on my flight today. Had an A321 in the intro and was alot more focused on how safe QF is. All had the now powerbanks included.

From the screenshots it also looks like it's also far more focussed on the no-nonsense safety procedures on board, which would reflect a growing trend away from the videos that, while better at getting attention, were bordering on abstract and doubling as advertisements.

Most importantly I just hope it was 90 seconds long and not 9 minutes.

Just saw it on a 737 flight today too. Ironically didn't get to see it on my flight this morning on the newest aircraft in the fleet since it has no screens :(

No operational version was ever 9 minutes.

QF learnt its lesson by releasing a media version and people who didn’t know what they were talking about got carried away.

No surprise we haven’t heard anything for this version.

I had to check that it’s not April 1st- Qantas having a no nonsense safety video? No John Travolta, no coffee karts and no phones dropped on a Safari trip? Finally a real improvement…

Yes, a new one launched from Saturday (and will update as IFE gets updated). It’s simple and focuses on the one thing a safety video should focus on - safety. No world showcase, just a real focus on procedures . I particularly like the part that shows an evacuation with passengers standing up and leaving without
I'll wait until they update the audio version as most flights these days out of Canberra end up as Dash8s or E190s, whether we want them or not 🙂

I haven't seen it yet, but do they still:
  • Forget to tell people to remove face coverings before putting the oxygen mask on?
  • "There's a red tag and mouthpiece for inflation", rather than simply telling you what to do with those things?

Is it a trend worldwide? I haven't really noticed it as such. SQ, MH and CX safety videos still proudly show off their homelands. TG isn't an ad for Thailand, but it still uses an immersion in an abstract world idea.

JL I believe is fairly no nonsense but they prefer to use animation rather than any real human actors.

With the new QF safety 'video', that must place QR into first place with the most cringe-worthy one.
