I think - all things considered - the right boys were on the podium and glad Oscar beat Lando at least

Definitely a tight season and lots of little moments that with hindsight could have had any of the top 3 winning it.

Also a season where individual driver and car characteristics changed who was the fastest car from race to race, and allowed others into the top 3.

Hopefully next year will be just as tight, but I doubt it.l with an the rules changes.

I have forgotten multiple times this season that it's only Oscar's 3rd F1 season, while this is Lando's 7th - the fact that Oscar made it a fight, let alone was leading for the majority of the season, is pretty damn promising. Mclaren letting Max back in with a hope is, well, a bit laughable.

If anyone is gonna be at Suzuka or Zandvoort next year, let me know Hopefully we see some better racing with MOM deployments

Lando stepped up when it counted and those 4 extra seasons over Oscar proved vital when things got tight. Oscar really suffered with that dip in form, Baku was a defining race for him especially after the winning in 2024 with some brilliant overtakes.
Without the engine failure at Zandvoort Lando would have been pretty comfortable in winning the championship. Incredible that McLaren allowed Max to gain so much ascendancy in the back half of the season.
Still papaya rules delivered a constructor's championship and a drivers championship and a third place in drivers championship. Entertaining season and will definitely be an interesting start next season with all new rule changes for the cars.

Not sure how much was lack of form, versus lack of experience/ less applicable driving style on the street circuits.

But Monza – when he was ordered to move aside for Norris for a team mistake that had nothing to do with him – felt like an overreach when it was demanded, and invited questions over whether McLaren’s “Papaya Rules” to pursue fairness between its two drivers had a preferred outcome in mind.

Whether correlation led to causation, we’ll never know. But after Monza, Piastri’s worst weekend of the year came next time out in Baku, and he went without a single podium for the following five rounds as Norris surged, the Briton taking the lead after the Mexican Grand Prix with five rounds remaining.

After showing such metronomic form and unflappable composure atypical for a driver in just his third F1 season, Piastri’s late-campaign wobbles, Norris bouncing back from a Dutch Grand Prix engine failure and Max Verstappen arresting a 104-point championship deficit to turn Abu Dhabi into a three-way title showdown for the first time in 15 years simultaneously showed how far Piastri has come, but how far he has left to go.

Sunday was the 11th successive race at Yas Marina where the pole-sitter took victory

Lots of moments through the season for all three drivers.

Lando also had the only McLaren engine failure when 2nd at the Dutch GP. So +3 Max and -18 Lando.

And Max obviously had his red mist penalty.

Haha I'll see but I think itll be hard. We really need to be in Tokyo on Saturday and Monday. (technically sunday too, but usually we can sneak off). It's a little bit harder to daytrip to Suzuka and back on race day.

Just reading that the McLaren had predetermined that if there was an overtaking opportunity on lap 1 for PIA on NOR then NOR wouldn't resist it so they could try to to put more pressure on VER as the one with Hard vs VER's Mediums.

Didn't pan out but interesting choice and strategy. Guess that's why it did feel a little bit too easy for PIA to do the overtake on lap 1.

Just finished watching...managed to avoid spoilers all day long...Ted was on the money in the Notebook.

Race was BOOORING after lap 2.
Most interesting thing was looking at the Sphere each lap.
VER won....glad it wasnt NOR.
Then they got a ride in a Lego car and some Dame Edna glasses.
Then Mickey Mouse came on with fireworks etc and things got a bit more interesting.
Still dont know what Sam Worthington was doing there?? Suspect he doesnt know either...

It was obviously all planned out in advance as ANT couldn't actually be on the podium as the drinking age is 21 in Las Vegas and if he got Champers in his mouth would have to be arrested.

Ted has scoop that Racing Bull employee caused NOR to be boo'ed, not actually that people dont like teams meddling with results.

Then the FIA decided NOR was getting too much of a lead and disqualified the McLaren cars...its Papaya Rules you know...gotta be both treated the same.

Much more interesting now....PIA and VER are equal second in Championship.

Ted's and the rest of SKY are gonna be real upset tomorrow when they get back from the Smooth Operator Dance Bar.......


FIA should also disqualify ITSELF as marshalls on track with cars.
ANT gets penalty for rolling 1mm
LAW DOESNT get penalty for ramming PIA and breaking his own wing
ALB DOES get penalty for breaking his own wing. by hitting HAM??
Also gets a reprimand...whatever that is?
NOR DOESNT get penalty for F Bomb.

Haven't even seen the race (don't think I want to knowing what happened!), but I reckon you pretty much summed it up.

Double staking is when both of the team’s two cars go into the pits at the same time.

Surely "Double Staking" is more like this?



Was aboard QF2 from SIN to SYD whilst the Abu Dhabi race was being run, so watched it on replay yesterday. Shame PIA couldn't pull off a Drivers' Championship this year, but as has been mentioned, being this close in only his 3rd season in F1 shows his potential with the right machinery and a bit more experience. Congrats to NOR - he put together a strong season and has shown his faith in McLaren over the years was well-placed. As for VER? Well, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm almost disappointed he didn't steal a 5th Championship at the death. The bloke (almost) deserved a title for stringing together the season he did and taking it right down to the wire.

And finally.....
