2024 Cherry Blossom Season Japan

Seems like this year's predictions are out for those travelling to Japan around late March.

You should be able to. At least at Tokyo if you're staying a bit.

I think I land on the 22nd so hoping to see a bit again this year. Last year I lucked out and had it in full bloom on the same days.

Though there can be variations in a district that can catch you out. In 2016 we were there in early April. Niigata was meant to be full bloom when we were there but it was already over.
But in Osaka and Akita they were meant to be finished but were still in full bloom
So good to go to a few areas to improve your chances of peak viewing.

Definitely agree as it ultimately depends on the weather. For example in 2023, Tokyo was first off the blocks in mid march (full bloom by the time I was there around mar 25-26 and tail end when My brother got there Apr 2). But the rest of the country only started around Mar 30 onwards.

These prediction are made every year by the Japanese meteorology and gets updated as we get closer to the season.

I tried to visit the cherry blossoms in the Blue Mountains (Leura) in 2022 and missed it by a week because the weather decided a week or 2 of cold damp rainy weather before warm spring hit off.
